Digext: Our Story

The Digext Team

Digext began with a couple of friends and a simple test: build an app we'd be comfortable using every day ourselves, before anyone else. No growth hacks, no engagement traps, just a tool we wished existed. Everything about it flows from three core ideas: privacy, immutability, and being user-friendly.

Privacy

Every time we use a digital product, a small worry runs in the background: what is this thing collecting about me? We built Digext so that worry has nothing to attach to. If not for legal requirements, our entire privacy policy would be one line: "Your privacy is our policy."

But a tagline is cheap. So instead of saying it, we built it:

There is no backend behind any of this. No servers, no infrastructure, nothing of ours powering the experience: your phone is the compute, your phone is the memory, your phone is the intelligence.

Privacy isn't a feature we added. It's the shape the app was built in.

Immutability

Here's something we noticed about digital content: it is never edited in place. When a webpage changes, the whole page refreshes, not just the sentence in question. When an AI response changes, the chatbot regenerates the entire answer rather than quietly editing the old one. Digital content is replaced, never revised.

Digext stores content exactly as it existed in that moment. Our aim is to capture the source of truth at the time you felt the content was golden. What you saved is what was said, so when you share it, its authenticity is guaranteed. A digext is a record, not a draft.

Immutable doesn't mean frozen, though. You can still reorder segments within a digext and keep several items together in one place, arranged the way you think. The words themselves stay exactly as you saved them.

User-friendly

From the UI to everyday usage to pricing, we wanted Digext to feel like it's on your side.

The interface is native, current, and easy on the eyes, built with the latest iOS design that feels at home on your phone rather than a website wearing one.

The same library, at home in both appearances.

And we don't play mind games with pricing. No dark patterns, no bait, no features held hostage: we don't upcharge on features, so even free users get the most out of Digext, not a crippled demo of it.

And our trial is truly a trial. It asks for no credit card and no sign-in to start, because a trial that bills you when you forget isn't a trial, it's a trap. We don't hand out trials hoping you'll lose track of one; we'd rather you enjoy everything the app has to offer without a cancellation deadline hanging over you. If you ever move up to Pro, we want it to be because you really want to, not because it slipped your mind.

Digext is now our library for everything worth keeping. We hope it becomes yours too.
